Internal Renders made possible (even bathrooms!) Empty Internal Renders made possible (even bathrooms!)

Okay,

How many times have you tried to do a nice internal render of a bathroom, with all that shining chrome and granite texture....

Have you ever, removed a wall so you can actually see the room, only to find that when you render, the mirror shows the room behind you as there is no wall anymore.....

A little known command in both Revit and Design Review (2011) is to change the 'focal length' of the camera. In Revit it is found in the right-click menu of the steering wheel. In Design review it is a slider+dropdown between the arrow tool and the home button.

Basically this setting changes the internal angle of the view cone of the camera.

Place a camera in a bathroom, close to a corner. Go to the view. Press F8 or your preferred method of turning on your steering wheel. Right-click and select 'increase/decrease focal length' and click-drag your mouse downward. It appears that you are walking backwards, which you aren't, the field of view is just getting wider. If you draw it back too much perspectives get pretty warped (fisheye even), however this may help you to capture those pesky small rooms...

Peace.
